Hello, I’m Amy

Hi! I’m Amy, a British English teacher, born and raised in London.

My love of other cultures started when I was at university in 2003. I met lots of international students and was amazed at their ability to study complicated subjects in a foreign language. I learnt a lot from them about their cultures and languages, and this inspired me to gain a qualification in teaching my own language, English.

For the last 14 years, I have taught English to hundreds of people from all corners of the planet. I’ve had students from Japan, Saudi Arabia, Peru, Eritrea and everywhere in between. I’ve taught mainly adults, although spent 2 years abroad teaching children and teenagers in Taipei (East Asia). I’m passionate about communication, and I know how frustrating it can be to feel like ‘another person’ when you use a language that is not your mother tongue.

One of my passions is to equip you with the language and confidence you need to communicate in English well. Whether you’re 16 or 76, a beginner or almost proficient, contact me and together we will have an English adventure.

There are almost 200 countries in the world, and I’ve met people from just over half of them – what a privilege!”

Languages

  • English

I am a native English speaker, born and raised in London, with a clear British English accent.

  • Chinese (Mandarin)

I started learning Chinese while living in Asia in 2012-2014 and I am still learning.

我在 2012-2014 年在亞洲生活時開始學習中文,我仍在學習。

  • French

I thought it would also be a good idea to try learning French. Conjugating the verbs is tricky!

Je me suis dit que ce serait aussi une bonne idée d'apprendre le français. La conjugaison des verbes est délicate !

  • Japanese

I studied Japanese for two years and learnt the hiragana alphabet.

私は2年間日本語を勉強して、ひらがなのアルファベットを覚えました。でも、ここではちょっとズルをしてしまいました!
